How to Get to Hannover Exhibition Center

Public transport

- Urban light rail
You can reach the NORTH main entrance at Hannover Exhibition Center from Hannover Main Railway Station (Hauptbahnhof) via urban light rail lines 8 or 18. Travel time is approximately 18 minutes.

- Light rail connection from Hannover Airport
The airport is located about 11 km north of Hannover and about 20 km from the exhibition center. Light rail line S5 runs between the airport and the Hannover main railway station all year. The train platform is located between Terminal B and Terminal C.
From the Hannover main railway station (Hauptbahnhof), take light rail line 8 or 18 to the Hannover Exhibition Center (Messegelände), NORTH entrance. Your ticket from the airport is valid for the entire trip.

  • German Railways (DB)
    German Railway (Deutsche Bahn) trains are the relaxing, environmentally friendly, affordable way to travel to the exhibition city of Hannover. From Hannover Main Railway Station, take the light rail lines 8 or 18 to Hannover Exhibition Center, NORTH entrance. By car

To reach the Hannover Exhibition Center by car, follow the signs in and around Hannover. (The exhibition center is well-signposted.) A parking guidance system will navigate you to the nearest available parking space.

Hannover emission zone (car permit)
Hannover’s environmental awareness extends beyond its ecologically responsible approach to organizing trade fairs. Since January 2008, Hannover has joined Berlin and Cologne in establishing an “emission zone” to reduce the level of harmful auto emissions (especially diesel exhaust particulates) in the core area of the city.
The Hannover emission zone is roughly defined by the expressways encircling the core of the city, and is designated by signs bearing the word "Umwelt-Zone".
Only vehicles bearing an official permit (disc-shaped sticker) or which fulfill other exceptional criteria are allowed to enter the emission zone. Further information on the Hannover emission zone is available at www.hannover.de.
