Flagship care services fair

From 24 to 26 March, the Hannover Exhibition Center will serve as a vital networking hub for the nursing care industry. Some 600 exhibitors will be showcasing their latest developments, trends, services and products for stationary and outpatient nursing care. Following the staging of ALTENPFLEGE in Nuremberg in 2019, the event rotates back to Hannover in 2020. ALTENPFLEGE is the leading event for its industry, covering the fields of Nursing Care & Therapy, Career & Education, IT & Management, Catering & Housekeeping, Textiles & Hygiene And Interiors & Equipment.

The special presentation titled FOCUS on Vehicle Fleets, concentrating on mobility and fleet management, takes place for the second time. The demand for innovative mobility solutions and efficient fleet management in stationary and outpatient nursing care facilities has risen dramatically in recent years. The FOCUS on Vehicle Fleets will be the first port of call at ALTENPFLEGE for the topics of vehicles, fleet software & route planning, services & financing as well as mobility & infrastructure. In addition, visitors will find a large number of the latest electric vehicles that can be tried out on a test track on the exhibition grounds.

The digitalization of elderly nursing care continues to be an absolute trend topic, touching on all aspects of nursing care – from documentation and personnel planning to nursing support technology. At ALTENPFLEGE 2020, digitalization will be presented in its entirety – both by numerous exhibitors with the corresponding products and by young start-ups armed with fresh, new ideas.

And this will also be a key feature of the special display titled ALTENPFLEGE AVENEO – Space for innovations. As the name indicates, the focus is on innovators who provide visitors with an insight into the nursing care of tomorrow. At ALTENPFLEGE AVENEO, innovative ideas are promoted, networks created and forward-looking research facilitated. ALTENPFLEGE AVENEO is also the venue for the “Start-up Challenge”, now taking place for the 4th time. At the “Start-up Challenge”, young companies, founders and students will introduce their ideas from the fields of technology, the Internet of Things, architecture and the nursing care and social industry. A high-caliber jury will select the most innovative products, with the winners receiving a marketing package to help them bring their products to market.

As digitalization continues to gain momentum, it is exerting an increasingly strong influence on daily work practices, and this has become evident in all areas of nursing care. At ALTENPFLEGE 2020, special emphasis will be placed on the question “What will the jobs of tomorrow be like?” A glimpse into the future of nursing care jobs is provided by the new “Experimental Nursing Space”, in which a number of different innovations can be tried out and which will whet visitors’ appetites for the opportunities offered by digitalization. In addition to experiencing products, the focus is on sharing ideas among peers. In addition, different facets of this topic will be illuminated in the new digital tours and in the free presentations in the various ALTENPFLEGE forums.

The “Focus on Universal Rooms” special display is about living under optimum conditions in old age. In two completely furnished and barrier-free apartments covering more than 280 square meters, visitors can experience how everyday life and housework can be made easier – sophisticated, stylish and so full of ideas that young people also feel spoken to. The “Focus on Universal Rooms” special display vividly demonstrates the technical options available to make living more age-appropriate.

A key topic in the industry continues to be personnel recruitment. Attracting and, above all, retaining nursing staff – this is one of the main tasks of stationary and outpatient facilities. Because, even if digitalization is going to change a lot of things, nursing care will still mainly be the task of human beings. However, fewer and fewer young people are choosing a long-term career in nursing care.

That is why the special presentation titled “#MeetUp: Your life. Your job” is being staged for the second time at ALTENPFLEGE 2020. It is geared primarily to the needs of young nursing staff, trainees and students.

At the ALTENPFLEGE FORUM, current trend topics will be discussed on open stages in the halls, and the latest products, ideas and services will be presented, both in interactive short presentations and “meet the expert” talks, in interdisciplinary shows and themed guided tours of the fair. The forums in the halls are divided into the following sections: Nursing Care & Therapy, IT & Management, Catering & Housekeeping, Interiors & Equipment. The forums are accompanied and supported by partners from research and government.

One of the main pillars of ALTENPFLEGE is the ALTENPFLEGE Zukunftstag congress, now in its 6th year. This three-day supporting congress impresses with a multi-faceted program that brings together the leading minds in the geriatric care sector, with more than 80 speakers reporting on all the key topics and developments in nursing care. The ALTENPFLEGE Zukunftstag congress, the largest and most important discussion forum for professional geriatric care, brings together the leading minds in the elderly nursing care sector to shape the future of stationary and outpatient care. Practitioners, specialists and managers will be there, as will experts from the social, medical, legal and business fields. “Competence, composure and a willingness to change – this triad has carried elderly care through every challenge to this day. This is good, because the sector is undergoing a profound change. The Zukunftstag congress reflects the concentrated expertise of all the players involved, providing valuable ideas for the future of nursing care,” remarks Carolin Pauly, Exhibition Director at Vincentz Network, Hannover, the producers of ALTENPFLEGE 2020.

The 9th Residential Sector Conference will also take place as part of the congress, examining trending topics like serviced housing and neighborhoods, business prospects and the overall political and regulatory framework. In addition, the 9th Residential Sector Conference offers a platform where managers in the residential building sector and nursing care facilities, as well as architects, planners, banks, local authorities and project developers, can meet and network.

High-caliber guests are again expected to attend the opening event for ALTENPFLEGE 2020 on 24 March, including Jenke von Wilmsdorff – a TV journalist who has conducted research in the nursing care sector. His format “The Jenke Experiment” has already been awarded the German Television Prize. The event begins at 9:30 a.m.
